Designer Goods on the Cheap
Every mother, every woman, wants to look and feel her best when she walks out the door. One way to do this is to choose one designer item and deck out the remainder of your outfit with less expensive pieces. You can couple a $10 pair of jeans, a basic tank, and a Chanel bag and you will look like money and class. Chic and contemporary, rocking the "I have my life together" vibe from head to toe. This look of power lands new jobs, new husbands, and self-confidence that can help you feel like you can accomplish anything.
Problem is, most women don't have an extra $6,800 for that classic Chanel handbag. So how do you spice up your look without breaking the bank? Here's a little of what I've learned through the years.
Kate is a dumb. Kate is sleeping with a married man. He lavishes her with expensive gifts including shoes and purses. Kate never thinks to get money. Kate gets dumped and has nothing to show for her dirt-baggy ways. Kate is dumb. Don't be like Kate. Buy her barely used items at a designer resale shop where she sold them to make rent money after Tim dropped her. That black Chanel which retails for $5,000 is now available to you for the low, low price of $1,200.
As costly as it may sound, think about it this way. If you can put away just $200 a month for six months, you can own Kate's old purse and still have self-esteem.
In Los Angeles, there are tons of designer resale shops that specialize in sunglasses, handbags, shoes, clothing, and accessories. I bought a pair of Christian Louboutin suede knee-high boots for just $600. Those same boots list online for $3,000. I died and came back, bought the shoes and ran home feeling like I had robbed a bank and got away with it. And it's all legal! They had never been worn! Even if they had, one quick trip to the cleaners and 10 bucks later... they would have been good as new.
Why buy three bags at the mall that you'll get rid of in a few years when you could have one Valentino you will cherish for the rest of your days? More and more online sites like TheRealReal.com and shops like Haute Seconds are offering up genuine designer goods for incredibly low prices. Look like a Goddess without spending too much. Think, save, shop.
